| | | | | | From Srila Prabhupada: This meditation means bhakti-yoga. Meditation, that is the real meaning. Nowadays meditation has become a fashion, but meditation is described in the Vedic literature.... The yogis, they meditate...the mind becomes fully absorbed in Krsna consciousness, tad-gatena. Tat means transcendental Absolute Truth, om tat sat. So tad-gatena manasa, mind being... Our mind is very restless, so it is very difficult. Five thousand years ago, when Krsna instructed Arjuna to concentrate his mind, meditate, or meditate upon Supersoul, so Arjuna frankly admitted that it was not possible for him. He said to Krsna, "My dear Krsna, You are advising. That is nice. But it is not possible for me."..."Mind is so restless, just like wind blowing. So to capture the mind, to make him pacified, it is very difficult job. I don't think I shall be able to do it." Arjuna refused. But Arjuna was a great devotee; therefore Krsna encouraged him. Arjuna did not know anything except Krsna, always thinking of Krsna. Then He encouraged him, that "My dear Arjuna, for you, you are the best yogi."...simply thinking of Krsna, mad-gata. Antar-atmana, within the core of heart, always thinking of Krsna....So we are teaching this. Krsna consciousness movement means we are teaching our disciples how to think of Krsna twenty-four hours. This is Krsna consciousness. And the simple method is to chant: Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare - "Seeing Krsna 24 Hours a Day," Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.7.2-4, Durban, October 14, 1975 Read and hear the entire lecture |
| | | | | Lord Jagannatha by Bhakti Charu Swami "Jagannatha Swami, nayana pathagami, bhava tu me." O Lord Jagannatha You appear in the pathway of my vision. We don't see the Lord. The Lord appears very mercifully to give us His darsan. We must see the Lord with that consciousness, with that understanding. We are limited spiritual sparks, insignificant spiritual sparks and the Lord is the Supreme Personality. So how can the minute perceive the Absolute? Is it possible for the minute to perceive the Absolute? But He mercifully appears to our perception. He allows us to see Him, touch Him and serve Him. We have to understand that out of His causeless mercy He allows us this prerogative. So with that we must see the Lord, "Jagannatha Swami, nayana pathagami, bhava tu me,' nayana means eyes patha means path. Our eyes are creating one path - path of our vision and Lord Jagannath is appearing there. Who is Lord Jagannath? From the name itself we can understand. If you know Sanskrit or Hindi, Jagannath - Jagat means the material nature, the world, the universe, the entire creation and nath means the Lord. He is the Lord of the universe. Not only the universe He is the Lord of the entire creation. He is not only the Lord of the entire material creation. He is also the Lord of the spiritual sky, which is eternal, which is endless, which is unlimited - doesn't have any beginning, doesn't have any end. Material nature has its beginning and its end. So Jagannath is not only the Lord of one universe, not only the Lord of the entire material creation. He is also the Lord of the spiritual sky. And He performs His pastimes. The pastimes of the Lord have two purposes. One is to have a loving exchange with His devotees. And through this loving exchange He derives joy and He allows His devotees to also enjoy. Love and joy are interrelated. It is through love that one experiences joy. The real joy is experienced through special kind of love. That is the loving exchange with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is the real joy. Read the entire lecture Who is Bhakti Charu Swami? Read his biography

Appreciating Kalachandji's Community Taken from a paper written by TCU student Phoebe Agundis for her "Understanding Wolrld Views" class after visiting the temple during the Sunday Feast: "I have heard people in the Christian world say we accept everyone, God loves everyone no matter what color. Although they say that so often, I have never witnessed it to the extent I had seen at the Hare Krishna Temple. The temple is truly a worship site of many faces. So many different types of people were there and no one seemed to mind that anyone was different." |
