Wednesday, May 12th - Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 | What is Gundica Marjana and its significance? If a devotee wants to cleanse his heart, he must chant and hear the glories of the Lord, Sri Krsna (srnvatam sva-kathah krsnah). This is a simple process. Krsna Himself will help cleanse the heart because He is already seated there. Krsna wants to continue living within the heart, and the Lord wants to give directions, but one has to keep his heart as clean as Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu kept the Gundica temple. The devotee therefore has to cleanse his heart just as the Lord cleansed the Gundica temple. In this way one can be pacified and enriched in devotional service. read more So please come and join us on Saturday, May 15th at 10:00 a.m. to clean our temple in preparation for welcoming Lord Sri Jagannatha, Subhadradevi, and Lord Balarama for the Ratha Yatra the following week. |
| | | | | | From Srila Prabhupada: Jagannatha will be very much pleased upon you...Little service to God is taken as great service. Krsna is so kind. So we should try always to give the best service, best energy, and you become liberated. Actually we cannot give any service to Krsna. He is unlimited. What is the value of our service? But He takes it seriously: "Oh, he is trying to give me some service." Otherwise what service He needs from us? Suppose He has created these big universes, what service we can give? By His will, He can create millions of universes. What service we can give? We... No. These are the chances of service, this Ratha-yatra. God is so great, so big, how we can pack up in the ratha. But this is a chance, that you get Him sit on the ratha and prepare it, manufacture it. Because your energy is engaged for His service, that is accepted. -- "Unlimitedly Merciful Lord," Melbourne, June 29th 1974 listen to the entire morning walk |

What is Gundica Marjana and its significance? At Jagannatha Puri, days before the Ratha-yatra celebrations, devotees thoroughly wash the Gundica temple located three kilometers northeast of the Jagannatha temple, where The Lord Jagananatha stays for one week at the time of Ratha Yatra. This is where Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu would personally clean the Gundica temple along with hundreds of devotees, with great jubiliation and the chanting of the Holy name "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare". The pastime of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu cleansing the Gundica Temple in this way is instructive for devotees on how they should purify their hearts so that the Lord can appear within them. If we desire to see Krishna within our hearts, we must first of all purify our hearts fully and prepare to receive His Lotus feet. If a devotee wants to cleanse his heart, he must chant and hear the glories of the Lord, Sri Krsna (srnvatam sva-kathah krsnah). This is a simple process.
