| | | | | | | | | From Srila Prabhupada: So in this way, gradually, I became attached to these Gaudiya Matha activities, and by the grace of Krsna, my business also was not going very well. (laughter) (laughs) Yes. Krsna says yasyaham anughrnami harisye tad-dhanam sanaih. If somebody wants to be actually devotee of Krsna, at the same time, keeps his material attachment, then Krsna's business is He takes away everything material, so that cent percent he becomes, I mean to say, dependent on Krsna. So that actually happened to my life. I was obliged to come to this movement to take up this very seriously. And I was dreaming that "Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura is calling me, 'Please come out with me!' " (pause) So I was sometimes horrified, "Oh, what is this? I have give up my family life? Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura is calling me? I have to take sannyasa?" Oh, I was horrified. But I saw several times, calling me. So anyway, it is by his grace I was forced to give up my family life, my so-called business life. And he brought me some way or other in preaching his gospel.
So this is a memorable day. What he desired, I am trying little bit, and you are all helping me. So I have to thank you more. You are actually representative of my Guru Maharaja (Srila Prabhupada starts to cry) because you are helping me in executing the order of my Guru Maharaja. -- Disappearance of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, December 13th, 1973, Los Angeles

| | | | | Damodarastaka Procedure From Mother Candravali, head pujari of Sri Sri Radha Kalachandji: 1. When offering the ghee wicks it is only neccessary to circle 7 times around the Radha Damodara picture and then 7 times around Sri Sri Radha Kalachandji.
2.Those devotees (adults or children) who help with the achman cup & hand out ghee wicks should be freshly bathed and wearing devotional attire.
3. In past years as in this year, when there are many people offering ghee lamps at the sametime there are numerous near-accident, so please take into consideration the following:
a. Parents, please do not let children play around the sand containers where the candles are burning
b. Please be aware of the space around you. Not only are you offering a flame in your hand but everyone else around you is holding a fire in their hand.

Saturday, November 13th: Vyasa Puja Celebration for His Holiness Giriraj Swami We will be celebrating the Vyasa Puja (birthday) of H.H. Giriraj Swami on Saturday, November 13th. Maharaja will be in attendance. Program schedule will be as follows: 10:30 a.m. Receiving Maharaj 10:45 a.m. Garland offering and Srila Prabhupada's Guru Puja 11:00 a.m. Gift offerings to Godbrothers/sisters 11:15 a.m. Foot bathing ceremony 11:30 a.m. Offerings and homages 1:00 p.m. Pushpanjali, Guru Puja and Kirtan 2:00 p.m. Cake cutting and Feast H.H. Rtadhvaja Swami will be the honored guest. Everyone is invited to attend. |
Sunday, November 14th: Class Series on Nectar of Instruction Starting An 11-week series studying Rupa Goswami's Nectar of Instruction will begin this Sunday, November 14th. One verse will be covered each week. The first class will be held at Nityananda Prabhu's house at 3404 Gurley Avenue. Thereafter, the class will be held in the upstairs darshan room. Friday, October 22nd - Sunday, November 21st: Month of Kartik and Damodarastakam Prayers The month of Kartik will begin on Friday, October 22nd. We will celebrate every evening at 8:00 p.m. in the Temple Room by singing the Damodarastakam Prayers and offering ghee lamps. Everyone is invited to participate. |

Barbeque Gluten Kebabs Gluten:
3 cups gluten flour
3 cups water
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon curry powder
Mix all the dry ingredients together. Then add the wet and make into a ball. Cut into 3 pieces and add to a pot of cold water. Bring to a boil and keep it rolling for an hour. Drain, cut into 1-2 inch cubes and deep fry. When out of the oil, transfer to a pot of sauce.
Sauce:
28 oz can of crushed tomato
1/2 cup water
½ cup Bragg Liquid Amino or soy sauce
½ cup molasses
½ cup sucanat or brown sugar
one teaspoon hing
Cook until thick and dark. Boil the fried gluten in the sauce until you are done frying and the sauce is dark. Transfer to a baking tray and put in a pre-heated oven on broil for 10 minutes, give it a stir and wait another 10. Remove from oven, wait about 15 minutes to cool down and then skewer.
