| | | | | | From Srila Prabhupada: So this Krsna consciousness movement means to deliver people from this ignorant ignorance platform and bring him to the light platform, or..., and knowledge platform, so that one can understand what is his constitutional position, how he can stop the sufferings of life, and how one can become eternally blissful life of knowledge. -- "Live Happily and Go Back," Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.1.50, Detroit, August 3, 1975 |
| | | | | His Holiness Prahladananda Swami - The Art of Cooperation
Recently we had the Vyasa Puja celebration of His Holiness Tamal Krishna Goswami here in Dallas. During the festival HH Tamal Krishna Goswami, in his video lecture, spoke about the subject of the Art of Cooperation, the proper understanding of the authority of Guru with the International Society of Krishna Consciousness. The following excerpt if from His Holiness Prahladananda Swami's paper title Duties of GBC and Guru in ISKCON
Art of cooperation "To spread Krsna consciousness in the absence of an advanced uttama-adhikārī Vaishnava, third-class and second-class Vaishnavas must follow the instructions of Śrīla Prabhupāda and learn the art of cooperation. Such cooperative devotional service based on truth will also help the devotees advance to the higher platforms of pure devotional service.A first-class devotee naturally knows the art of cooperation." |
Appreciating Kalachandji's Community: Community Garden Kalachandji's Community Garden has very recently been established just across the street from the temple.
We are following a biological process, and are using Dallas soil. Dallas dirt is actually very high in calcium, which is quite possibly the most important mineral for growing very high quality produce. Such foods are called "nutrient dense" or "high brix" and are only occasionally found even among the organic selections in the stores. Dallas dirt is low in phosphorus, however, which is necessary for production of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Therefore the soil has been amended to achieve the necessary mineral balance.
We can accommodate all types of gardeners, including those with no experience at all, because the garden leadership manages the fertility program. No composting, fertilizing, or soil management is required by any of the gardeners.
A few plots are still available. Plots are raised beds four feet wide by ten feet long. There is a one-time setup fee of $50 to help cover the costs of establishing the garden, and an annual fee of only $30.
And we can always use volunteers! Right now we are working on the final stages of the setup. This week we are staining the new wood fence, and there are other projects also going on.
