From Srila Prabhupada: (Continuing about Lord Jagannatha in praparation for Ratha Yatra) Regarding Lord Jagannatha, He is the unfinished carved form of Krishna. One king named Indradyumna wanted to establish a Jagannatha temple some thousands of years ago, but while the Deities were being carved by the heavenly carpenter, Visva Karma, the king was in too much haste, and he established the half-finished Deities in the temple. Jagannatha means the Lord of the universe. That is Krishna. Krishna as the only one Lord of everything is confirmed in the Brahma Samhita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita, Caitanya Caritamrta, and all Vedic literature. Rathayatra is celebrating the occasion when Lord Krishna, or Lord Jagannatha attended one religious functional occasion in Kuruksetra along with His elder brother and younger sister in a big chariot. -- Srila Prabhupada letters, Los Angeles, July 28th, 1969 |
Kalachandji's Community Garden Community gardens provide access to fresh produce and plants as well as recreation, exercise, therapy, and education; neighborhood improvement, social interaction, sense of community and connection to the environment. They improve the quality of life, beautify neighborhoods, reduce family food costs, reduce crime, and help create intergenerational and cross-cultural connections. Kalachandji's Community Garden is open to anyone who wants to garden. Experience is not reqired. For those who are new to gardening, we make it very easy because the soil is already prepared, and we test and amend the soil very carefully each year. We can guide you in what to plant, when to plant, spacing, etc. Many of our gardeners use the square food gardening method for their layout, which is very easy. Some of our gardeners grow marigolds for garlands, or daisies for the altar vases. For veggies, practically anything can be grown. The key to health and personal nutrition is in the soil. Working organically with the soil and growing some of your food is possibly the simplest, healthiest and most rewarding activity you can do, and one of the best things you can do to help ease the burden of modern society on Mother Earth. We have a few plots open and you are welcome to join us Please visit our Facebook page or visit our blog. For more information, please contact Shalagram at 214-335-1832 or email him. |
Appreciating Kalachandji's Community Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. It was a pleasure meeting you today. Thank you very much for allowing me to purchase the books that you offered as well. If I am not visiting to purchase books during my visit, please insist that I somehow or other do. As a first time visitor, I was most impressed with the yatra for their receptivity. Also seeing Sri Sri Radha Kalachandri well attended by loving pujaris during the abbhisheka ceremony was truly a blissful experience. In the prasadam hall, I had a chance to honor prasada with who I thought was a community member who inspired me to push on with the book distribution. Along with that I got a long awaited chance to see Sriman Urjesvat Prabhu. I went to the Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir in Brooklyn with the hope to see His Grace, when it was reported that he went to the Dallas Yatra. Hopefully, by Sri Sri Radha Kalachandri''s favor may I again have the priviledge of visiting such wonderful vaishnavas of the Dallas Yatra. Yours obediently, Kasyapa dasa
